Halloween Horror

It's that time of year when I temporarily focus on horror novels. Bring on the Stephen King books. Not only do I like a bit of horror reading at Halloween, but I also love the horror movies. A mixture of classics and new, here are my top five Halloween movies to watch this spooky October.

Halloween

I mean, come on. It does exactly what it says on the tin. How can you not watch Halloween on Halloween? It's a 1978 classic, starring Jamie Lee Curtis, who is just fabulous in everything she's in, and none more so than when she's escaping Michael Myers. It's a must-watch.

Insidious

It's got monsters, it's got The Further, it's got a fantastic cast that includes the amazing Lin Shay as Elise. (Reason to watch it right there.) And it's got great sequels too, so you can watch the creepiest ghosts for hours.

The Conjuring

Because if I'm watching Insidious, then I'm also watching The Conjuring and then Anabelle and then The Nun. I'm going for the whole universe, and not only does James Wan make a great movie (see Insidious) Patrick Wilson does too, and I love the chemistry between him and Vera Farmiga. I love love love these movies, especially at Halloween.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Robert Englund. Need I say more? It's not Halloween without a little bit of Freddy haunting nightmares, and if Robert Englund isn't the king of horror, then I don't know who is. Yes, I loved him in V first, and seeing him play the alien called Willie, might have made me love him before he moved onto creepiness, but that love for Englund stayed.

Child's Play

I think dolls are creepy anyway, but add a knife and you've got the Chucky doll. Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it still awesome? Also, yes. A killer doll at Halloween. It's like dolls were invented for it. Side note, I dressed my little boy up as Chucky for his first Halloween last year, but he just made it look adorable.

Time to Watch

You might not agree with my list. You might have you're own must-watch horror movies for Halloween - Feel free to tell me what they are - but for Halloween, I think we can all agree, horror is the way to go. Even if I'm reading romance novels, in October, they're going to have some kind of werewolf or vampire in them. I do love a bit of the paranormal.
