Christmas Time
Christmas is fast-approaching, and I am getting excited. It's my favourite time of year. The season of gingerbread and hot chocolate. Of dark evenings and coloured lights. Of warm jumpers and fluffy blankets. It also edges us closer to the end of the year and the start of the next.
The new year is like a reset. We get to start from page one again.
A Year in Review
This year has had its ups and downs. Some health issues made me feel a bit rubbish, and I had some bad fatigue. I put on weight, and I lived in chaos. I've bid on council houses, yet I have moved no further up the list. I've done very little writing and had no career progression.
But I've had some great times too. January started with the birthdays of my furbaby and my little boy. And my little guy started walking. He's the cutest little chatterbox. I'm watching him grow and turn into a sweet and stubborn little toddler.
In June, we spent five days in Skegness, a place I love, enjoying nice meals and seaside food. My little boy went paddling in the sea for the first time, and my furbaby has always loved a good paddle. There was a lot of excitement when we stepped onto the beach. In July, we had more beach fun in Shetland, where the weather was surprisingly hot. We spent time with family. Walked the streets of my childhood. It was a lovely time.
It's been a quiet year, a consistent year, and it's gone so quickly. I can't believe the difference a year has made in my little man. And now we're venturing into another.
The Year to Come
Any plans for next year? I don't have much scheduled yet. A couple of UK breaks, but nothing beyond that. For me, next year needs to be about saving money and making good financial choices, so I'll be living even more frugally. I should probably drink less fizzy juice, too. And while I'm at it, eat healthier. Eating healthier is easy to say, though, when you've got a houseful of Christmas treats.
It's hard to know what next year will bring, but hopefully it will be more happy memories and motivation to write even when I'm tired.
But First, Christmas
There's no point looking too far ahead when we still have Christmas to come - That takes enough planning without looking beyond it - but as well as Christmas, I'm looking forward to New Year. Some people don't care about the New Year, but I always love the midnight moment when the year changes from one to the next.
See you in 2026.
